Now the long awaited release of Rex Morningstars new album is almost here! Coming in late January 2000, Rex will introduce Rubber Bullet, a 15-track commentary on this strange thing we call life. Empowered by a drum machine, and using his acoustic guitar like a dentists tool, Rex dives into issues such as the W.T.O., school shootings, genocide, and the power trips of relationships.
Rex comes from a diverse musical background. Growing up on 80s new wave, surviving grunge, and embracing Hip Hop, his output is something like a black Tory Amos freaking out on Radio Head. The new album is something that must be experienced, so down load a song, get high, and sit in the dark.
Rex has preformed with Lol Tolhurst, (the Cure), floater, sang lead for Henrys Child, supersonic soul pimps, Jolly Mon, six degrees, and many other northwest bands.
I find that the more I fight this thing, the bigger it becomes. Hi Becky. If I slowly slip into the void again so be it. Mighty mouse is here again.
The first song is Rexs take on the Eugene Anarchist scene.
Song 2 is the story of Cathleen Powers, the 60s revolutionary who lived in Eugene under a false identy for thirty years.
Rex grew up in Los Angeles, near Laurel Canyon, where Jim Morrison and other members of the Doors lived in the early seventies. He moved to Oregon in 1980, and grew up in a small logging town called Glendale. He was convicted of kidnapping in 1992 at the age of 21, but plead insane and spent nine months in the Oregon State Hospital. (The story comes out in the album.)
Rex now lives in Eugene, with his wife, his cats, and his art.
