I Love You Ricky Martin is an excellent example of the happy-tacky Latino sound embodied in the Tropi-Rock series, a new fun style invented by Peter Day and Greg Tingey, who also created Out-House music in 1997. Influenced by the now sadly defunct Portsmouth Sinfonia, perfection is less the aim of Tropi-Rock than an ambience of 30's cruise ships calling at sultry Latin-American harbours in time for the weekly performance at the local cafe, where the music is fast and the girls are faster, and the men drink to forget a past that is rushing to meet them in the near future........... |
