The first four-fifths of this is mostly electronic-sounding, with only hints of massed strings that gust in and out, presaging their full emergence at the end. October in this piece is a malevolent stealer of women's warmth, who sends his winds and leaves to spin up around the singer and spirit her away. This piece is linked thematically to the one below, Enraptured, but only in the words and thoughts. Musically, they are not related. Lee plays congas and udu on this track. I think the electronic string section sounds good, but I wouldn't mind having the money to hire a real one. So buy lots of DAM CDs, please.

A hopeful monologue from an introverted, romantic girl who knows that if she could only go to Paris, her life would be perfect. The composition owes a lot to African mallet and thumb-piano music, with a little soca in the drum parts. Lee is playing a wonderful cha-cha conga part that reminded me why composers should always listen to performers' ideas. I never would have thought of it.At first listen, it may seem that the words and music aren't related; the link is that many African countries are Francophone, and Paris is the center of much African music recording.Actually, that's not the real reason. I just thought it worked.
