The Mahajana
project was started in 1993. It features faithfully recorded
nature sounds and variations on a peculiar melody, with special regards
to a harmonious mixture between relaxation and mild acoustic stimulation.
It is unlike anything you have
ever heard before. Some nature sounds were recorded on a remote island
with very reare bird-life. In fact, the Mahajana soundtrack is used for
medical purposes by a an ethusiastic naturopath in Germany who swears by
it.
One can observe that whenever
this music plays, people seem to get into a friendly discussion and only
when the half-hour track is finished they notice that "something was there".
It would be claiming too much, if we said that this was intended. Yet,
we feel that the spirit of the sounds is well above average in its effectiveness,
and that already became clear while we were making it. Normally one overdoses
on one's own music quite quickly, but although the tracks are quite long
with 30 minutes each, we never felt fatigued or lost concentration.
There is an audible microcosmos
if you care to listen. Especially with headphones you can feel right in
the middle of these most pleasant and delightful summer scenes. On
a warm summer's day Norbert got out there and utilised his 20years of sound
engineering experience. He listened for hours to find the "special spot",
but in the end it was the birds which led him to that place. Using his
DAT-recorder and his specially built microphones he breathlessly recorded
the moods.
It took long peaceful evenings,
miles away from "civilisation" to inspire the melody line. I think I got
a significant part of the tuning and timing right. A preliminary cassette
release was made and 10 demos were given to god knows who. No effort
of getting it known to a wider audience has yet been attempted. But somehow
it found its way to the right people, amongst them Veronica, the naturopath.
We must also name Steffi, who asked to make CD copies, and pays $10 royalties
for copies she makes for her friends. If you feel that you can broker a
deal with a distributor, don't hesitate to email. We think this music could
catch on.
The versions on MP3 are a few minutes
shorter that the original (because of the 20meg file limit).
If you want the complete, whole, unabriged versions please email.
We ask you to email us and tell us what you think.
