A Live recording. The Third and Fourth Movements of "remarkable" first symphony by first-time composer Fix. Upon his return to school after an 18 month leave of absence following the death of his father, Fix decided to switch his major from Legal Studies and Political Science to Music and compose a symphony for his senior thesis. Dedicated to his late father, the symphony was composed and scored in a little under 8 1/2 weeks, performed by a pickup (albeit large) orchestra and chorus, and premiered to a packed house at the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall in April. The work is un-apologetically romantic in nature. There are several nods even to the large oratorios of the late Baroque, and also with looks to the future. |
