The Band Members
For Aaron, its all pop. To him, it's an ideology and a sensibility by which
everything in the music we hear is established. He enjoys purer pop values,
sometimes British, sometimes domestic, and seeks to bring that into the songs.
Once it's pop, you try to make that guitar cry... Just not for very long because
people dont go for that guitar hero nonsense.
Adam is somewhat of a free-sprit. He abhors what he calls "first-year-drumming,"
which is actually more of an attitude towards beats than anything to do with skill. It's
hard to make drums convey emotions, whether it's rock' n roll cool or bliss, but
Adam does something like that every time. It's all about the rhythm. Onstage he
frequently gets bored with the drumming aspect of the whole deal and trys to
entertain himself, and consequently the audience.
Chris brings a unique creativity and a tendency for sonic experimentation. Though
some, with his liking for textures and colors of sound, would slide into chaos, he
considers "rhythm chops" the most important part of providing the harmonic base.
After all, you can't let an effects box control your destiny.
Jason gives a smooth feel to each number with bass that is less in your face and
more in your soul. Without these grooves the song would be hurting, and you'd
rather be listening to some other pop. At a gig his dance moves are strictly
white-boy, like the rest of the guys in the band.
If there is a "star" in the band, it is Tiffany. She fronts the band and provides the
voice and personality. She accepts this role with a provocative indifference.
On-stage she never leaves any question what the main attraction is... And what
else would it be? Fancy guitar playing? Not likely.

Something to Say
"In today's music, The Less Miserables play a style that
may not be too popular — pop. Wendle claims Radiohead, The Smiths, The Sundays and other Brit-pop
groups as inspiration, which can be heard in the group's
music. But after listening to its songs, you are left
fascinated by the voice of lead singer Yon. Soft, yet
powerful, Yon leaves a presence of pure pop." -James Conroy of the Daily Collegian |
