Soprano Nicole Blackmer is finishing her Thesis at the University of Washington where she will receive her Master's Degree in Vocal Performance. This November she will join the Portland Opera in their Young Artist Program (Portland Opera Works!). Roles include Despina in Cosi fan Tutte¸ Papagena, First Lady, and Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte, Madame Silberklang in Der Schauspieldirektor, Mére Marie in Dialogues des Carmélites, and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro. She has also performed as a soloist in Faurè's Requiem, Stravinsky's Three Japanese Lyrics and Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915. Nicole has been a featured soloist with the South Australian State Opera and the Wake Forest Orchestra and Choir where she performed as a soloist in Mozart's Requiem and Mass in C Minor, Bach's Magnificat, Vaughan-Williams's Mass in G Minor, and Beethoven's Choral Fantasy and 9th Symphony. For the past two summers she has been involved in the International Vocal Artist's Institute at Portland Opera and VocalArts NorthWest in Seattle.
