Uday Bhawalkar
Uday Bhawalkar was born in M.P. in 1966. He Started his
training in music at the age of eight from his sister. He was also learning in
a music school in Ujjain from 1975 to 1981.
In 1981 he received a four-year scholarship from Ustad Allauddin Khan Sangeet
Academy to learn Dhrupad in "Guru-Shishya Parampara", this was under Ustad Zia
Fariduddin Dagar at the Dhrupad Kendra, Bhopal, later he continued his training
also under his elder brother Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar the renowned Veena
maestro.
He has been awarded by National Scholarship, Junior
Fellowship from the cultural department
of the Government of India. And Kumar Gandhrva Samman by the Madhya
Pradesh Government.
Uday has performed
at many prominent music festivals in India and abroad, including The Tansen
Samaroh Gwalior, Harballabh Sangeet Mahasabha Jalandhar, Sawai Gandharva
Sangeeet Mahotsava Pune, Saptak Ahemdabad, Ramakrishna Mission Kolkata,
Shankarlal Festival New Delhi and
Concerts in the UK, France, Belgium, Holland, Greece, Austria, Spain, Mexico,
Canada and in the USA.
His recordings in the form of CDs have been brought out by
