001 - DAY ONE - THE WANDERER RETURNS
Simply titled this way because I hadn't created any of my own music on computer for a long time, 3 or 4 years, due to various computer problems and lack of time as well, but then one night, the urge became too much, so I re-installed Soundforge (my only tool of choice for making this kind of music), and within two hours, this track was born, using various sounds and .wav samples I found laying around in my computer, from random freebie games. Certainly more than happy with this track as my return into creative music making, and I feel that I got a good amount of ideas out in the time I spent on it, and plus it makes a nice start to an album, short, actually has a rhythm and a bit of a melody to speak of. Glad to be back. |

002 - THROWING EVERYTHING YOU HAVE AT THE MONSTER AND STILL NOT BEING SURE WHO WON -
This proves my love for long titles, they give you more room for manouevre and expression, and I feel I can really explain what is happening for me within a piece of music. Driven by the relative success of 001, I soon continued work, and within another 3 hours this track was complete, again with rhythms, but not in the normal sense of the word I guess. Not having a drum kit at my disposal, I like to create rhythms from sounds not ordinarily used, proof is here, using 2 second samples of someone smashing a glass and using a typewriter to good effect. During the second half, I can imagine life back in the pre-historic days where the monsters battled against predators, and there are definitely monstrous screams, explosions and aftermath noises hidden within. |

006 - WALKING THE CORRIDORS IN THE BUILDING THAT HOUSES THE FINAL OBSTACLE IN LIFE - Definitely the most ambient piece of music I've ever created, and technically I guess this is a remix of a Tangaroa track. This is made up from just 6 drum samples taken from a drum track for the demo of "Seven". All very simple really, done with time stretching, pitch shifting, reverb, and a lot of patience, creates an amazing illusion of someone walking onwards with lots of battles, flashbacks, and general confusion going on around and inside the head. If you enjoy this piece, then you well and truly are into ambient music in its most purest, minimal, stripped down but psychedelic and thought provoking best. |
