This transcription of the Firebird (Dance infernale - Berceuse - Finale), composed in 1928 and dedicated to the memory of Ferruccio Busoni, is a masterpiece in the genre of piano-transcriptions, and was recommended and praised by Stravinsky himself. Agosti's transcription of the work remains mostly true to the original, while he fully explores all the technical resources of the instrument. In the Infernal Dance, he truly exalts all the percussive and 'evil'nature of the piece; in the Berceuse, Guido Agosti succeeds in creating 'opposite' sonorities, through a writing that reminds of Ravel's Le Gibet. The Finale, begins with shimmering tremoli (tres fondu), and through a progressive build up of the texture, it climaxes in a chordal exploit ala Mussorgskij's 'Great Gate of Kiev'.
