This song and the album as a whole is something of a mystical ultra folk ferry ride to the other side of the ‘The River’, pulling the listener through undercurrents of illusions. ‘Liberation through hearing’ is the translation of Bardo Thodol, better known as ‘The Tibetan Book of the Dead’. There is no other text quite like this one, that comes from ancient times. It was originally conceived to guide the listener step by step through the death of her fears and their dull, deathly colours, bewildering noise and drama into the beautiful, mind-peaceful lights and sounds of awakening. |
