NEXT GIG: To be Announced....
PUSH IS:
- Chris Karson - Guitar, Vocals
- Chris was the original lead singer for the Suicide Kings before Trevor Finlay. A traumatic experience at an early age with a piano-playing accordianist spawned Chris´ love for guitar-driven blues music. He recalls: To this day, I get severe stomach cramps listening to zydeco, polka or even Gypsy music, especially at weddings. He combats this illness by cranking the tone pot on his Telecaster to "Treble". As for musical influences, Hound
Dog Taylor, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy and Freddie King top the list.
- Lee Bowie - Guitar, Vocals
- Lee is another Suicide Kings alum, having lasted longer than the other two founding members who have since completed a number of rehabilitation programs. Lee fondly remembers: That rat-bag Guido tried to get me kicked out of the band, so I let the air out of his tires and set his house on fire. He respected me a lot more after that! After Lee´s exit from The Suicide Kings he has played in a number of local bands to support a growing guitar habit. In recent years his hermit-like existence has been marked with sporadic but energetic performances in the Ottawa area. Musically Lee´s interests have been leaning toward bluegrass, country and flamenco in recent years. Blues influences include Sonny and Brownie, Taj Mahal, Sonny Boy Williamson (not the original Sonny Boy Williamson but the Rice Miller guy that impersonated Sonny Boy for the King Biscuit radio show), and Nigel Tufnel.
- Fraser Moffatt - Bass
- Fraser is originally a drummer who hailed from the all-drum band ironically known as The Guitars. He later played drums with the Cameron Highlanders. It was all about the booze, said Fraser in an early interview, we got some really great deals, like $5.00 for 36 beers. Fraser has also played bass and guitar in local favourites such as Brain Damage, The Humpin´ Whalebacks and The New Humpin´ Whalebacks. Musical inspiration for Fraser comes from a wide range of sources. He says: I have a very short-term memory, so I really can´t be sure where I draw my influences from. I don´t really care either, as long as I look good. And look good, he does....
- Dave Bisonnette - Drums
- Dave is originally from the quaint village of Munster Hamlet and also hails from the original Suicide Kings lineup. Dave says: I really wanted to play banjo, but my mom bought be a drum set instead. My main musical influence was the movie Deliverance. I try to approach percussion like a banjo player, so to list my musical influences I would have to say the kid with the big ears in Deliverance and the guy who played banjo on Hee-Haw, whatever his name is. And I really dig that tune I heard on the radio the other day. I don´t recall the name of the song. I´m pretty sure you would have heard of it. There might be banjo on it, but then again I´m not really sure.
