There are but a gifted few to whom poetry comes as easily as drawing Breath. Joe Higgins is one of those few. Posted here, are some of Joe's masterpieces. Visit this page often to hear some of his other works.
Joe has three excellent albums to his credit; "Little Red Car", "8 Barr Ave" & lastly "BITE YER TOES"
"Bite Yer Toes"...“Bite Yer Toes” was recorded in CAVA studios Glasgow, Scotland in 1992. The original purpose of the recording was to make a personal record of favourite songs written by myself.
It was not intended for commercial purposes.
The recording session was scheduled to begin at 5pm, but due to technicalities the actual recording didn’t begin until just after 6pm.
I played each song then listened to the recording before moving on. By 9pm I had completed all the songs, mostly in one take.
Half an hour later I had them in my hand in the form of a DAT tape and two regular cassette tapes.
I said to the recording technician ( Brian McNeil) that I would like to buy him a pint as a token of thanks.
He told me that he had been having a difficult day and by 5pm all he had wanted to do was go home, however, when I started singing and reached the line “Jump out the window and bounce off the ground” from the song “Bags And Bullets”,
he suddenly and unexpectedly found himself laughing. He said he looked up at me through the glass window of the studio and thought “ Who is this guy?”.
He said he went on to enjoyed the session so much that he would like to buy me a pint. So we went for a pint.
Ten years later I decided to put the songs on CD and have them properly mastered."--------------------
