Clarinet is where it all began at age 12. Piano was the foundation. Love for the six-string became the glue. David1s voice is an extension of all three. For the last ten years, David Ford has been writing, evolving, and performing his music. Becoming a clarinetist in his school band at 12 led him to studying piano shortly thereafter. By 15 he had already gotten his hands around the neck of a beat-up guitar he bought for fifty dollars, and his labor of love was born. For hours on end he would practice, day in and day out, eventually auditioning and being accepted into the US Army band after enlisting at age 18. David Ford1s eclectic writing style is a cleverly mixed bag, created over time by studying jazz and classical theory merged with rock, funk and blues. His lyrics tell a story. His melodies catch an ear. His grooves move the soul.
David is based in and has a following around the NYC area that continues to grow, having received positive reviews for his debut EP, "Out Into The Jungle". His live appearances include the Bitter End, Lion1s Den, CBGB1s 313, The Baggot Inn in NYC, and the House Of Blues in Cambridge, Massachusetts for the 2002 Berklee Alumni Singer/Songwriter Showcase.
