In 1977, after the meteoric rise and fall of the
Sex Pistols, the world was left to pick up the
shattered remains of the punk movement and begin
anew. The New York scene continued as it had, with
bands such as The Ramones and The Talking Heads
bringing their respective retroactive and innovative
sounds to the forefront. In Great Britain, a brash
new breed of working class musicians emerged in bands
like The Clash and The Jam. And from rural Pennsylvania,
of all places, came The Mods Against Tomorrow.
The Mods Against Tomorrow were three young men
with one simple message: that within twenty years,
the world music scene would be taken over by as
yet unborn, pubescent posers, and that within ten
years, there would be no such thing as independent
radio. The Mods mission, to stop this heinous
prophecy, was unfortunately scrubbed due to internal
conflicts, and the atrocities that were foretold by
the band eventually came to be. Nearly thirty years
later, the Mods' music plays on in a world gone
horribly wrong.
