The idea to record an album of my songs came to me last summer in Odessa. I have been writing songs since I was 15 years old, but most of them were never arranged or produced. I strongly felt that now was the time to finally give them a chance. With an exception of a few very close friends, my songwriting skills have mostly been known from the days of Fiasco Del Mondo, a metal band in San Francisco, California. But that was mostly heavy metal. Now I was thinking about going to a totally new direction. I wanted to write some new material, and I also wanted to record some compositions that were written over the past 15 years. But mostly, I wanted to create a concept where everything was revolving around the same theme, the core of the album. At the same time I was slowly getting over a rather painful break-up and I wanted to write about it. I felt that it would give me a closure… But I also felt that it would be very “limiting” to record a bunch of songs about the same events and the same person. So, I have decided to look back and to revisit some of my previous relationships… And that is how the concept of Что такое ЛЮБОВЬ was conceived.

Written, produced and recorded in 2002.
Что такое любовь is not about my feeling toward a single person. Yeh... it is mostly about one person, but there are some references about other women. |
