October Smiled Back was a rock band formed sometime around 1996-97 in Oswego, New York. The band included former members of Drazil, hELL, Dead Image, J-Rod, Tristando, and Blood Runs Black. The personnel was Derrick Hart(vocals/guitar), Nick Reitz(bass), John Manwaring(guitar/vocals) and Corey Ryan(drums). Despite having written some good songs and having played some good shows, the band's demise was inevitable. After countless bouts of creative differences, pessimistic attitudes and big egos the band broke up shortly after John decided he wouldn't have some changes that needed to be made and walked out. The next day Nick, Corey, and Derrick played their final show as a trio at Planet 505 in Syracuse, NY. It went quite well and was a good way to end things after all the hard work. All the people who helped and supported October Smiled Back should know it was much appreciated. Derrick Hart is now located in Seattle, Washington working on solo material which can be downloaded at www.mp3.com/derrick
