Soprano Elyse Nakajima is
currently studying Music at Stanford University, but performs with
VocalArts Northwest on
her trips home, such as this summer 2002's Concert at Benaroya Hall. While
at Stanford, she has appeared as Pamina in the Magic Flute, as a soprano
soloist in Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo by Haydn, In terra
pax by Finzi, Magnificat by J.S. Bach, and Serenade to Music
by Vaughan Williams. She also appeared onstage with the Stanford Savoyards
(Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance), StageOne Productions (Rapunzel
in Into the Woods), and with the Stanford University Singers. She has
appeared in productions with Bay Area Summer Opera Theatre Institute
and Oakland Lyric Opera. She received national attention in the spring
of 2001 in vocal competitions at both Florida Grand Opera and Palm Beach
Opera.
