Bass-Baritone Matt Curran was born in Princeton,
NJ. He earned his Master of Music degree from Indiana University and apprenticed
with Central City Opera before joining the Seattle Opera Young Artists
Program for the 2001/02 season. He appeared as Don Magnifico in La
Cenerentola by Rossini and will return to the program this year to sing
Colline in La Boheme by Puccini. In Washington, he has also
sung with Seattle Symphony as King Balthazar in Amahl and the Night
Visitors, Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seven Deadly Sins, and the Skagit
Valley Symphony in Stabat Mater by Rossini. He has performed numerous
roles at Indiana University and appeared with New Orleans Opera,
Chautauqua Opera, Aspen Opera Theater, and the Opera
Theater of Loyola University New Orleans. This fall marked his debut
on The Seattle Opera mainstage as Zaretsky and the Captain in Eugene
Onegin by Tchaikovsky.

Matt has participated
in VocalArts Northwest's performances, and the summer workshop intensive of 2002. VocalArts Northwest was founded in 1998 by Elizabeth Moore,
former Music Coordinator/Accompanist with Seattle Opera, and internationally
known baritone, Erich Parce. VocalArts Northwest
is a non-profit organization devoted to
the training and nurturance of classical vocalists through performance.
Its various programs include 8-week Masterclass sessions, and Summer Workshop
Intensives; in which serious vocal students receive training from artists
at the highest levels of the profession. Additionally participants continue
to perform regularly for community groups and in professional venues throughout
the year. The tracks found here are all from live performances presented
by VocalArts Northwest.
