I've always loved King Curtis' "Soul Twist", and Duane Eddy was a huge influence in my early formative years. This piece pays homage to both. |

I wrote this for a TV show (that never saw the light of day). It was to accompany a series of world images that alternated between happy and sad. Every eight measures I alternate between major and minor modes - very interesting indeed.

A perennial favorite of the FIllmore (East & West) generation. This is an earlier version of the Sour Flower that was featured on the first Randall's Island record. I wrote the 'beta' version in 1967, and recorded this live performance at Bill Graham's Fillmore East in N.Y in 1970. |

While producing Steve Bassett's "Standing on the Verge" CD in 1993, I recorded this duet quite spontaneously with violinist Cecil Hooker in a log cabin in the hills of eastern Virginia. This piece spans may moods and styles. |

A few months prior to the formation of Randall's Island, Eric & I penned and recorded this R&B tune. The lyrics are poignant (if not obtuse), and we musicians took the minimalist route. |

I composed this after a week of very intensive listening to Beethoven's orchestral works. Simplistic 'broad-stroke' hamonization, with electric guitar added... very melancholy. |

A broad spectrum of guitar sounds - acoustic, electric, slide, guitar synth, all woven together into a dreamy instrumental ballad. Kirsty MacColl named it. |

We recorded this R&B instrumental ballad at BJ Thomas' studio in Jackson, Mississippi in 1970. The sounds and feel are absolutely retro (and timeless). It was subsequently covered by STAX recording artists "The Mar-Keys". |
