Going to travel to Russia? Cool! This is a great and beautiful country, people here are fond of all kinds of music, but get prepared: except for the central parts of Moscow and St. Petersburg, nobody speaks English here! Russians, of course, learn English at school, but fluent English speaking is still a priviledge of well-educated persons who have everyday speech practice at work (for example, foreign trade and tourist companies). It is very likely that not every passenger in the bus (or even the bus driver) will be able to understand you and show you the way in English. Street names are written in Russian, same goes for all shops and most of cafes, so you see: you better spend some time and learn Russian in advance. This will help you to navigate across Russia and never get lost in this great country of beautiful towns, forests, snow and really nice and friendly people!

In this language course you will first learn the Russian alphabet and practice the pronounciation of Russian letters. Each letter is illustrated with the image (on the left of the track) and show the actual spelling of the letter. These tracks and images you can download for free.

The next part is to learn reading Russian. This will be done by learning how some well-known words (the capitals of some countries) sound in Russian. These tracks are illustrated, too, and since the capitals’ names are not changed too much in Russian comparing to the original spelling, you will learn basic reading very fast. Listen carefully to the tracks and repeat, trying to sound as close to the sample as possible. You can download these tracks and images for free.

It is recommended to buy the “physical” CD, not the netCD, since there are explanations and illustrations printed on the CD inside booklet, which will help you a lot to master your skills in Russian.
