Nashville producer and engineer Joe "Guido" Welsh made a record almost by accident.
Improbable as that statement may sound, the band he put together for the sessions includes some of the hottest players in Nashville, guys who have played with artists such as Quincy Jones, Aretha Franklin, John Prine, Nanci Griffith, Jason & the Scorchers, Rodney Crowell and Steve Earle, among many, many others.
The improbability doesn't stop there: through sheer brass (and the ability to deliver on it), he also enlisted rock legends such as Levon Helm and Garth Hudson of The Band, Joey Spampinato of NRBQ, Garry Tallent of the E Street Band, saxophonist extraordinaire Bobby Keys and woodwind man Jim Horn (two words: California Dreamin'). There's more, of course, but it's time to stop reading and start listening.
For more of the story, you can go to the Lucky Man Clark website; also, the site has higher-quality MP3s of the same song clips.
