SEEDS OF SOUND: Lowell Ecology Benefit Concert ... The Seeds Of Sound benefit concert was originally going to be called the ROCK MOUNT TRASHMORE Benefit Concert, but the powers-that-be and the authorities controlling the state facilities would not let us produce it under that name, so Dave Huckins and George Koumantzelis ( its major creators ) came up with the name SEEDS OF SOUND instead. ... It was a magical event! ... This web site is built, not only in memory of that event, but to keep the spirit of giving alive that took place on that memorable day on August 18, 1991. ... All the money raised from this original event was evenly distributed among the following seven local and national ecological and environmental groups: GREENPEACE ... WALDEN WOODS PROJECT / THE ISIS FUND ... FRIENDS OF THE EARTH ... P.E.T.A. - PEOPLE FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS ... PRESERVE APPALACHIAN WILDERNESS / EARTH FIRST! ... THE CLAMSHELL ALLIANCE ... and THE ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND. ... As on that day, all of the activists, artists, bands, musicians, performers, poets, speakers, volunteers, and other workers who contributed all of their attention, energy, money, and time to seeing that the event was a grand success have also agreed to allow their contributions to that day to be used here in order tp continue the spirit of giving. ... ALL OF THE ARTIST PROFITS GENERATED FROM THIS WEB SITE - 100% in their entirety - WILL BE DONATED to: GREENPEACE - the worldwide environmental group which works so hard to save our planet and all the living creatures on it, including us! ... GO HERE to reach the GREENPEACE web site: http://www.greenpeace.org/homepage/ ... GO HERE to reach the web site of the concert organizer, George Koumantzelis: http://homepage.mac.com/aeoliankid/ ... GO HERE to reach the web site of the concert poster and T-Shirt artist, David Huckins: http://www.octogorillypus.com/ ... In the future, we hope to produce more SEEDS OF SOUND Benefit Concert events, but in the meantime, we hope you enjoy the program from that day, which was sponsored by: AEOLIA: WHOLE FOODS, The Lowell Heritage State Park, and The Lowell Historic Preservation Commission. The event was aired live over the air on the local college radio station - WJUL, 91.5 FM - with Eric Rose of the "Eric In The Morning" program acting as our Master Of Ceremonies. ... We encourage you all to purchase the music, posters, and T-Shirt from this event, and guarantee that ALL proceeds will be donated to GREENPEACE! ... We also encourage you all to visit the web sites of all of the artists who contributed original material to this event. You can see their individual web site URL addresses listed with each of their contributions. ... Regrettably, there were some artists and bands who played there that day - like The Croutons - who did not perform original material; nevertheless, we will do everything in our power to see to it that those bands are mentioned and given credit for selflessly donating their time and energies to the greater cause "for the good of the whole" as our friend, Al Boisvert, likes to say! ... We hope you enjoy the concert! ... YOWZA! - George Koumantzelis, Concert Producer.
