Stlye wise this one's hard to place. Progressive-Acid Jazz....? This also took entirely too long to make, but none of it could have happened without Kenny Sayne - Guitar & Frank Reynolds - Bass. They were both kind enough to play for me (with very little direction) and then let me mutilate what was recorded. They both played stellar. I am on live drums, drum seq, live vibraphone, live keys, keys seq.The drum solo is one pass w/ no overdubs (ok theres one cybal crash added in one placebut honest that's it). The voices are snippets of friends at a party (more to come on that later). This performance never happened as you hear it. It was a very non-linear compositional approach. |

Genesis does DnB? This is #1 of 2 LIVE, TOTALLY IMPROVISED, NO PRE-DISCUSSION, NON-REHEARSED tunes. Please see also “Bring Me the Cubist Head of David Hasselhoff”. What you hear is total spontaneity between people that trust each other musically. This was recorded July 22, 2000 at Windows on the Cumberland (a club) in Nashville, TN. The recording was skillfully done live to 2 track (only 2 mics!) by Will Wilson. Check him out at The Tube: (/artists/445/the_tube.html).
Due to lack of rehearsed material, a long set time, and our 2nd guitarist trying desperately to find parking, we were forced to spontaneously compose. Warts and all…here it is. I have been blessed to play with wonderful musicians over the years.
Guitar/Guitar Synth – Joel Mahathy
Parking – Scott Alexander
Key – Douug Upton
Bass – Jeff Manson
Drums – (me) Brandon Brooks
