[ONCE WERE] THE PASTURES OF PLENTY doesn't have a genre. It makes its own as witnessed by the story that Tom used to tell: The President of a large record company (which shall remain unnamed) called Tom to say that he had declined the opportunity to market the CD because it really didn't have a niche and would therefore be too expensive to promote. However, he wanted to know if Tom would mind sending him another copy. It seems that he and his wife were fighting over who got to keep the CD in their car CD player. Well, Tom just shook his head and sent the guy another CD. From the masterful infectiously rockin' Tumblin' and Rollin' (a spin off of the classic blues tune Rollin' and Tumblin') to the liquid groove of Like Running Water, this CD will keep your foot tapping. Put it in your car and you will keep it there for a long time. Caution: This CD may become addictive! Also included are 30 Second & 7th/Power Mania, The Cajun Dance, Pretty Old Men, (Lament) Regret, New York City New Age, The Bao Tao, On Line (Guitar Synth Solo for Mississippi Fred McDowell), The Mississippi Boys and Darkness, Darkness.
TOM POMPOSELLO (1949-1999) master slide guitarist, guru of the classic Nickelodeon sound ("Nick Nick Nick Nick Nick Nick Nick"), producer of world class CD's, wacky animation director, and consummate New York bluesman, conceived [once were] The Pastures of Plenty as a cure to the Wonderbread of new age music that he felt needed some help. He worked with composer and keyboardist Art Labriola on the writing of the CD, and then enlisted stellar artists in their own right, Bruce Ditmas on drums and Randy Landau on bass. Together they prove that when the good get jammin', the jammin' gets good!
