It's that voice. Majestic, soaring and able to reach parts that other voices just don't even come near to. And because of that voice, and the lush swirling music that surrounds it, to watch Sevenball live is to be caught up in the maelstrom of passion they bombard their audience with.
Labelled 'intense dreamy music by the April 2000 issue of :here, 'Bright Boy' stunningly captures the live experience on sound. The song builds upon a relentless but subtle riff before exploding into furious, gnashing guitars, finally crashing back on itself, propelled by one more emotive roar from Luke.
You'll listen to this one again and again, be moved and then begin to understand why the May 2001 :here described Luke as 'a man with some pretty heavy demons to exorcise through the power of rock.'
york:music:here compilation CD liner notes, July 2001
It has an understated power with tinges of sadness and pain. The buzz supposedly surrounding the band is justified if this song is any indication of their songwriting prowess.

Indie rock with a handsome guitar riff and some strong vocals. Basically just a good song and worth your listening time.

Dark ballads the like of which Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots used to come out with at their most inspired moments.
Lead singer, Luke Ritchie's vocals are gravel-leaden, yet soar above the spacious web of electric and acoustic guitars being spun beneath him, with female backing harmonies lifting the whole lot that little bit higher in all the right places.
This is intense dreamy music that would feel as much at home in a close unplugged environment as it would played with a full band, as demonstrated by Luke's acoustic performance at our launch party in March.
Gorgeously intense, serious music.
