Cree 8 review as posted by Deek of WBCN/Heavy Diaper Productions

you remember Gruntruck? or the War Babies? -most likely not, but in my opinion, they were two bands who tore many new assholes in their day and age. IN anycase.....to be honest, with most bands, the comparisons come easy (like yo mama! ha- sorry.) in this modern era of Korn cover bands to the third power, but with the Massachusetts-based band Cree-8, that is quite far from the case. After listening to their new EP five times completely through (no bullshit) this morning, i wracked my beer-clouded brain over and over for a "pinpointing" of their sound (as us half-assed reviewers lke to do); but alas, in the end: (War Babies and Gruntruck- c'mon! how freakin' obscure) no dice- WHICH TO ME IS A VERY GOOD THING!
Here's another band that at one second makes me think of the heavier end of King's X, while also teasing me with a melodic older Anthrax-esque guitar hint here and there (some really solid guitar soloing on this effort as well!). There really is no weak link in this band; i'm not saying that they're perfect yet, but after seeing them only once over a year ago, Cree-8 have brought their attack to 15 levels above their previous offering. Keep up the great work guys! Love the vocal delivery- brings me back to the days of Soundgarden's "Badmotorfinger" but with a more modern twist. -Can't wait to see them live again!
