Age of Irony is a chamber work commisioned by the Indiana University New Music Ensemble. This five movement work illustrates both media and social reaction towards the attacks on September 11th. This prelude stands outside of that spectrum as a simple hymn of mourning. |

This second movement of Age of Irony deals with the depiction of violence in the media. |

This third movement of Age of Irony pits media sensationalism against actual, uncensored imagery. This is musically represented through the unnatural juxtaposition of atonal music against a pure diatonic section. |

This fourth movement of Age of Irony deals with runaway nationalism after the events of September 11th, as well as an increase in cynicism amongst those not caught up in the frey. |

This final movement to Age of Irony is meant to represent the nation's rebuilding efforts post-attack. A final hint of the Prelude is left at the end of the movement as a reminder that, for all that has changed, very little has as well. |
