The Portland, Oregon duo of Paul and Diego present
many styles of music (Latin, Funk, Rock, Blues, World,
and found music) held together with the glue of jazz
in the tradition of the old and new. This duo combines
a musical perspective from the streets to concert
halls with education and raw intuition.
Paul Evans studied jazz saxophone performance and
classical oboe performance at Arizona State University
where he held a staff position as composer and
accompanist for the dance department and in California
at Cal St. - Long Beach where he studied with
legendary Saxophonist Leo Potts. Currently he plays
with the Saturnalia Trio Quartet, Admix SoundRig Collective,
the Paul & Diego Duo, Scribble, Snuffleupagus, and Full
Moon.
Diego Salvador studied music in Lima, Peru; Buenos
Aires Institute of contemporary Music; and P.S.U. with
Jerry Hahn. He moved here from Lima in June 2000 and
immediately found a place as a musician in the
Portland scene playing styles ranging from Latin,
Funk, Reggae, Rock and beyond. Diego is now performing
with The Paul & Diego Duo, Scribble and Snuffleupagus,
Seventh Seal, Full Moon.
Pachamanca combines recordings from live public
performances and live basic home studio productions to
provide a large variety of sound and music for just two
guys. There are no sequencers or synthesizers, just good
old fashion use of acoustic instruments played in real time.
