Heavy metal guitars. Hook laden vocal melodies. Danceable beats. Pumping bass. My Dead Sister are a high powered quartet blazing down their own musical path with their eyes firmly set on breaking the North American rock scene.
Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, My Dead Sister was formed in January 2002 by three veterans of the Canadian indie scene. Bassist/ lead vocalist/ songwriter Denton Bramley and Drummer David Swart had been playing together since 1999 in Following Horus. Despite rave reviews and a large fan base, they wanted to take their creative and performing skills to the next level. The two friends broke out on their own and enlisted guitarist Mykill, with whom David had done some session work.
The newly formed three piece instantly clicked, and got to work on realizing their common vision: the ultimate band fusing the excitement of '80s metal, the song writing prowess of '90s alternative rock and modern technology.
In April 2002, Denton, David and Mykill began working with producer Jason Martin, who helped shape their songs with his studio savvy and low - tuned, ultra - distorted guitar tone (Jason contributed rhythm guitar to the initial recording). The result is "Volume One" a three - song demo CD which quickly sold out of its first pressing.
My Dead Sister is now actively pursuing a recording contract. In the meantime they continue to broaden their fan base both globally through their creative use of the internet, as well as regionally with a dynamic live spectacle.
My Dead Sister have between them years of live and recording experience, tools they are using to achieve their common goal - a band they themselves would want to support. And the fans don't seem to mind supporting My Dead Sister, either.
