Josh Dowdy is a performing songwriter based in the para-alt country hotbed of Hueytown, Alabama. His not-quite-classical-folk sound bears influence from the likes of Bob Dylan and David Gray. Dowdy's writing style covers a broad scope from the vague, almost metaphysical, to a more conversational, distincly southern dialect. His musical foundations rest on years spent in school bands and church choirs. He picked up the guitar in the summer of 2000 after having been inspired during his last year of college by East Alabama folksinger Dave Potts. "I think being able to hear Dave play so often and talk with him about his music enabled me to see what a meaningful thing songcraft can be." Dowdy has yet to release any official recording, stating "when the time is right I'll enlist masters of the trade to help me in an attempt to capture a portrait of my inspirations." Meanwhile you can catch Dowdy performing at open mics and songwriting contest throughout the Southeast. He can be contaced at dowdy1411@hotmail.com

This song was inspired by a pseudo epiphany of sorts I had one day about how two people in the same house can be much further apart than two people on different sides of the country. |

This song is about the idea of passing up various opportunities in life for no other reason than the possibility that the next one just might be better. |

One early summer's evening, just as the sun was going down and the cool night air was settling in, I revisited the trailer park I had lived in for several months the previous year - and these are the feelings that experience stirred up. |
