Cat is not new to this game, he’s just improved the game. In 1997 he released his underground smash “Mr. Megaton” produced by Charlamayne (Capone & Noreaga, Missy Elliot) which garnered him a deal with Casino/London/Polygram. Poised as “one of underground’s dopest MC’s of the year” Cat dropped his single “Fugazi” produced by Rob Lewis (Nine)/”Money Game” produced by Domingo (KRS-One, Fat Joe), calling out all those who didn’t walk the talk they talked, virtually black-listing him from mainstream radio airplay in 1998.
In 1999, Cat hooked up with producers Rob Lewis again and the young up and coming Just Blaze (Roc-A-Fella) to drop his next single. “Real Nigga Living” featuring Killah Priest/”Life”, A double A sided banger which most DJ’s and critics agree was his best and most slept on work to date.
However, the single didn’t go unnoticed as it secured him a spot on the underground classic “Ghetto Like D&D” featuring Krumbsnatcha, Tef, QNC, Starang Wonda, Afu Ra and Jane Blaze.
At the close of 1999, Fat Cat found himself amidst a label in the process of a Universal takeover. In the shuffle Cat and Casino Entertainment were given his songs to exploit independently, which brings us to the split between him and his former production company over creative differences and the direction of his career.
In 2000, with the advice of friend and former kick-boxing champion Richard Baker, they formed Money Game Productions, then it was on! With two years of hard work, together they have completed the 9 track debut album Cat’s Eyes that takes you through his 9 lives. This album he recruits unknown, hungry in-house producers ArmedMen, Steamrolla, Big Rah, Mendell and the MGP, together they build a monument. The album is a classic!
