Dimp N Ice Biography ::
Dimp N Ice is a rap duo with rhyme topics expanding from sentimental raps to lyrical excercises. Possessing the ability to instigate various emotions inside your mind with the various emotional topics that they touch upon, they perform verbal gymnastics with their clever metaphors and witty wordplay as well to induce a little grin in the faces of their listeners. Subject matters include but not limited to topics about desires for a woman, infuriated declarations against the world, braggadocio, clubbing and partying, personal sentiments for brawls, as well as homeless guys getting caught by the police for trying to jack a toaster.
Dimp and Ice, otherwise known as D23 and 13th Disciple respectively, were classmates in Middle School and remained friends throughout Dimp's departure from Indonesia to the United States. With a friendship where rap and hip-hop played a big factor in their personal lives (like Ice catching Dimp perform some very strange dance moves in front of the mirror to Redman's "Let's Get Dirty"), it didn't take long for the two to unite their common interests and start creating their own music.
Unofficially the first Dimp N Ice track, "Love or Lust" birthed the Dimp persona and opened the gates to Dimp's rap career. A song where conflicting sides of love and lust are constantly battling during the course of the track, this track was a foreshadowing of Dimp and Ice's agenda in the future. Dimp and Ice both developed each other's skill by battling each other and constantly critiquing the other's works. Through this lyrical skirmishes, Dimp found his niche of (insert D23's style here) and Ice further developed his metaphoric styles and solidified his vocal deliveries.
Sticking to their roots and often creating raps centered around the theme of love, Dimp N Ice simply rap about events that happen in everyday lives. Unlike other rappers who describe what they see in the world around them, the two emcees chooses to take the path of rapping about how they feel. Without neglecting other aspects of emceeing such as their liquid-like flows and varied styles of delivery, thought provoking lyrics which allow the listener to relate to their messages are consistently present. Currently in the process of finishing up their collaboration album, Dimp N Ice aims to blow away the ears of the hip-hop culture by being one of the first young Asian rappers who has reached that particular level of emceeing. With hip-hop audiences tired of the same old "bling-bling" topics and constantly looking for new artists to listen to, the time is ripe for the arrival of these two whackos...
