“T-Bone decided he'd had enough of the in-fighting and shoddy business practices that sometimes accompany a career in music. T-Bone says he took stock of his personal and spiritual condition and made some hard choices. "I think you can get disillusioned," he reflects, "because you realize not everyone has the proper motivation to be in this business. You start seeing the competitiveness and jealousy and envy and you become sucked into it yourself. I want to be a leader and a better example. If I can't do this right, I don't want to do it at all."
"I definitely consider myself a pioneer," says T-Bone. "I started out with JC Crew in 1991, when there were only a few other hip-hop artists, such as Dynamic Twins and SFC. But I was the first gospel artist to do a true West Coast style rap record. Prior to that, there was no 'gangsta' sound in Christian music."
