Roxy Dawn, a true story. Dangerous electric shock treatment, two children
too soon, left her family for the open road, a gypsy and child of the wind.
Fell in love with a riverboat gambler, ran a whorehouse, and sang her great
songs on the streets of Nashville where Bob Dylan discovered her and offered
her a record contract. For a year Roxy walked across America on the American
Indian Longest Walk. She moved to Woodstock and created the Holiday
Dinner for the poor and lonely at Christmas time; she got the whole town to
volunteer the food, the community center and the music. She ran it for 15
years until her terminal liver illness finally took her life in August,
2001. Her great songs and poetry must not die with her. This CD is produced
from worktapes made in the seventies and eighties in Woodstock, Nashville and New
York. Roxy Dawn led a wild, exciting and difficult life; she was raped,
mugged and beaten; she was poor and lived her last 12 years in constant
agony. Yet her spirit breathed love of life and her actions were
compassionate and inspiring. She believed in the basic goodness of all
people and was often heard to ask that we Keep Faith In The Power Of The
Good.

You know, they say that Love is blind.
But did they never tell you -
from experience I know it's true,
That Loneliness doesn't even have eyes |
