At the age of 13, Surgene Cabell a.k.a. Sir Gene embarked upon a little something more than girls and a new pair of Nike's. In the midst of young talent sweeping the world in light of groups like B2K, who have been made a huge success in their "girl-crazed, I love B2K" promotional tactic, but there are some who have become nothing more than fads. Soso Def's Bow Wow (formerly Lil' Bow Wow) and backed by millionaire dad, Romeo are getting older, but their side-swiped, overtly commercial approach has fizzed out. Parents fell in love with Bow Wow as their daughters glued themselves to the TV watching the "Puppy Love" video, which soon turned disaster as some mother's began covering their daughter's eyes as Lil' Bow Wow became surrounded with women old enough to be his mother dancing seductively around him in his latest video. And Master P's, No Limit-less backdrop of his own protégé Lil' Romeo, did not do quite as well as many imagined. This is where Master P. should sign the check- insufficient funds, Romeo and the Jackson 5 remake "One More Chance" didn't make many girls' Christmas lists this year either. Of course, Romeo could take off in some other area, but not in the music arena. Even Lil' Bow Wow, dropped the prefix, lost the ponytails, and took some acting classes, but did his rap get any better??
And did someone say the word- acting and Lil' Bow Wow in the same sentence? Come on Mr. Dupri, it's over. Try basketball camp next year. Fans are simply wanting more. These girls are getting older and at 13 and 15 (Romeo and Bow Wow's ages ), Puppy Love lullabies are cute, but not selling. Good luck with the next generation coming. In the meantime, fans have become scarce and promotional managers have come to the last resort. Yes, somewhere in a large city near you, you may more than likely find Romeo, Bow Wow, and a host of other 'kid unknowns' on tour.
So fans want to know what's wrong, where are the "rap B2K guys"? Even Mario has the girls singing the "Braid My Hair" song! Well this information came right in and it's HOT OFF THE PRESS! There has been Rumors going around that there is this HOT new kid from the Midwest named Sir Gene. Can you believe that's his real name?? They call him the lyrical wiz and this young rapper is a star beyond reason. Sir Gene has been on the mic since the age of 5. He was inspired as a youngster, being toted around by his dad who was a local DJ. He kept Sir Gene in the parties where mic freestyles were a common element. Sir Gene became inspired to rhyme. At 6 he was walking around with a microphone in his hand pretending he was a rap star....and today, at only the age of 14, he is. And no parents, he does not use obscene or vulgar language. He's a refined rapper. Prolific and quite profound...lyrically that is. There's more coming up on this new rap star from Rayz-Up Records. Keep a look out for Sir Gene, you'd better get ready because he just may be coming to your town.
