Revolutionsständchen 89
(Serenade of Revolution 89)
The composition arose 1989 and it was a composition
order of the festival Styriarte in Graz (Austria). Main emphasis of the festival was Mozart and the 200th anniversary of the French revolution in this year. I didn't understand the connection of Mozart and the attack on the Bastille and I read several biographies about Mozart. No context had to be found. I so decided to write an electronic music with a character like a serenade. It isn't of course any serenade in the classic meaning. Revolutionsständchen 89 (Serenade of Revolution 89) is the personal opinion of the composer about the festive events on the 200th anniversary of the French revolution.
The première led to a small scandal.
Helmut Dencker´s aggressively powerful "Revolutionsständchen" disturbed quite
a number of audience.
