I auditioned several pieces for the producers of a CBC Heartland documentary, and they picked this one. It hung around in my DAT pile for a long time before I spent the better part of the gross national product of Venezuela unleashing Eugene Friesen and his Flock of Cellos on it. As if that weren't enough, I traded Steáfán a microphone to finish it off with a couple of Uilleann pipes parts and some kind of East Indian wood flute. This piece feels to me like a sweet goodbye, the kind of feeling you'd like to leave behind when walking away from a dear friend, or a beloved place.
