Introducing J.J.RAWLINGS....
J.J. Rawlings was born, Jacob Fowowe Joshua, in Ekiti State, Nigeria.
He grew up in a home filled with music. His father was a local artist and
encouraged his son to pursue a career in music. At age fourteen, J.J.
performed in dance competitions hosted by local radio and television stations in
Owerri, Nigeria. While he progressed as a songwriter, he also participated in
sports and was voted best Soccer player at his high school.
After graduating from high school, J.J. moved to Lagos, Nigeria to further develop
his musical career. In Lagos, he performed in numerous television shows such as,
Party at Night on Channels 7, 8, and 10. He also performed on the Onyeka Onwenu
show called "Who Is On", Youth Scene, Africa Jamboree, Coca-Cola Show, Apapa Amusement Park,
and became a member of PMAN (Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria), where he also won
the Interstate Dance Competition Award. In 1997, J.J. moved to the United States to continue his
education in Pre-Medical Studies at Georgia Perimeter College. He has performed in various parts of U.S. A.
and Canada, including the first Miss Nigeria U.S.A. Pageant.
J.J's musical style comprises of modern R & B, soulful ballads and hip-hop reggae. He as completed his debut
album titled "I'm Serious" which has received favorable reviews and airplays. His songs express different
interactions in human life such as, love, emotions, creativity and passion that is the phenomenon of relationships
in our society today.
