The Four Tenors Haarlem, Holland, June 2002
The open-endedness and the experimental goodness in the concert, beard me see to. After a (mostly) perfect set struck the meligheid, alternated the players continue of instrument and the vigorous quality of the numbers. At the time I comfort myself with the thoughts that also then between the onstage chaos suddenly again pearls of numbers were to be descried.
In a row of four stood they set up: Stern Westfield sange played guitar and laptop, Lou Barlow on bass and electronica, Mr.s. Pilgrimm the cello, and Stevo Mathewson played saxofoon and child piano. The public it so over thought on that already from the aangroeiende buzz.
The hall became deathly quiet and my evening was thus now already succeeded. The stagepeople sorrows smoked cigarettes and drunk a beer. The refrein of a song really already so schattige number became spring through all other sorrows. After this followed a second blood top beautiful (and me strange) number.
Mr.s. Pilgrimm. In reality am called she Sophie accompanied itself on cello, Stevo played a deuntje with on a child-piano, Stern took place behind a laptop and Lou did ‘something’ with electronica.
As appeared from not all just good music, the atmosphere was about it fixed not less. The musicians had the good to their sense, it became regularly spoken with public and it became robust what afgelachen.
As were the moments that Stevo Mathewson on its instruments , the improvised texts of Lou Barlow over a girl (and especially her friend) in the hall and the apt Lou Barlow imitations of Stern Westfield certainly amusingly.
