- Great music is not easily pigeonholed or categorized. The artists which have changed the face of music are those that have stood with and paid due tribute to their influences, while failing to be confined by them. The heart of great rock music lies in great songs. Take away the volume, the polish, the pomp and the pride... the songs that we remember are those that are at their most powerful with a voice, an instrument, and a quiet room. The chemistry that creates a good band is hard to describe, but it is most often nothing more than the ability and vision to let a great song be great... to know when to scream and when to be silent. It is a delicate task to handle a song and to help it become what it was meant to be. The artists that have mastered this are those that have changed the face of music again and again, and in the process, touched our lives. A fledgling band, Sometime Sleepless has a long way to go to be considered among the ranks of those great artists. If nothing else can be said for them, however, they have the soul and potential for that elusive chemistry... and they have the heart for great songs. With influences ranging from Dave Matthews to U2 to The Get Up Kids and Jimmy Eat World, Sometime Sleepless creates a category almost all their own. Quality song writing, great musical chemistry, and a presence that reaches out to touch the audience in a way uncommon to much of popular music today, the band possesses a kind of unassuming power that makes people stop and pay attention.
Formed early in the fall of '99 under the guidance and drive of singer/songwriter Chris Bannon, the band quickly progressed to recording a three song demo in the Winter of '99. Songs from this demo received modest attention from college radio throughout New England. Over the past few years the band has changed faces and matured in musical vision. A second studio project, recorded through the spring and fall of '01 resulted in the new demo EP with, "Learning to Smile", "Dreams Deceptions" and "Fall from Gravity". The response thus far has been overwhelming. Every time Sometime Sleepless hits the stage, people are touched. Come, listen, and find out what great music sounds like today.
