As their tastes in music mature, many people turn to New Age music for its diversity of instrumentation and complexity
of composition. Unfortunately, the New Age genre often finds itself dismissed as easy listening "elevator music". But
it doesn't have to be that way. It can be very powerful and compelling. Like a book that you just can't put down, or
a play that you can't stop talking about, New Age music can take you to other worlds, other times, and other places,
freeing you from the constraints of everyday life.
Along with the musical complexity of sound and style that is a cornerstone of New Age, Dennis takes a cinematic approach
to his compositions. The blending of orchestral, synthesized and native instruments allows him to create music designed to
stimulate the mind and excite the senses.
You can begin your journey by "Crossing Over" into the "Territories", the debut CD by Dennis Downing. We think you will enjoy seeing the landscape and
meeting the people of this world through its music, and we hope you will return again often.

The first track on the 'Territories' CD, 'Crossing Over' conveys the joy and exhilaration that one feels when they are able to leave behind the banality of every day existence and find themselves in a world of unspoiled beauty and adventure. |

Like a mirage, the great walled city of Gilead appears in the distance. You stand and stare, unable to believe your eyes, at the graceful spires those walls contain as they rise and disappear into the clouds above. |

In a room high up in the Dark Tower, shrouded in a cloak the color of dried blood, his face hidden by a perpetual shadow, lives the creature known as the Crimson King. If one could see beyond the cloak you might see a beautiful, angelic, regal looking man. To look beyond this façade could lead to madness. |

Standing at the top of the slope, silhouetted against the setting sun, is the Dark Tower. A pillar of stone rising so high into the sky that you can barely discern its tip. Its base, surrounded by red, shouting roses, is formidable, yet the Tower becomes oddly graceful as it rises and tapers to a needle sharp point. You are filled with wonder and joy. How gorgeous and strange it all is. |
