His Guitronica project has emerged
and you can just call him DJ Stroud.
Having performed over Two-Thousand Gigs, he
is a multi-talented and extraordinary guitar player.
A humble individual that's constantly growing as a
musician because of his ability to logically
utilize criticism.
He's an accessible and methodical personality;
a budding vocalist; a fine composer
and arranger; a true professional in music;
a great songwriter; and a promising producer/recording engineer.

is honored to be featured on the mega guitarsite
Guitar.com - out of thousands
of guitarists, only about 26 get featured
in a year.
From the small rural town of Orleans, Indiana
, Darren entered a Four-Month long
guitar competition in Indianapolis where
he was selected the winner
among some 150 guitar players.
He has won numerous guitar contest titles
since then as well as being asked to judge a few.
His list of credits continue to grow in all areas,
yet his ability to adapt to a variety of musical
situations has not hindered his identity -
it has only enhanced it.
He is always ready to EXPLORE NEW Arenas in the
Music Field. Some friends sited Darren on
MTV when the Red Hot Chili Peppers
reviewed some of their choice clips of guitar auditions
in L.A. No one knew that he had left Indiana for that brief
period.
Darren Stroud continues to learn about
recording music so that he can record his projects
on his own. His first progressive rock
recording was "Guitar Absolute" -
a recording that gives tribute to the great
guitar players and styles that he admires.
His blues CD called "Guitarboy Plays the Blues"
has been known for his witty lyrics, boyish
voice, and rockin' blues guitar riffs.
"Guitarboy" Stroud is making a name for
himself as one phenomenal guitar player in the
blues.
Darren sites his biggest influence as
Randy Rhoads for scales and theory.
His other influences include Jimi Hendrix,
Frank Zappa, Joe Satriani, Chris
Duarte, Albert King, and Albert Collins
to list a few.
Stroud listens to all guitar
players and combines the energy, musicianship
and vibe of his favorite influences to transform
himself to be known as a modern-day guitarist
.

The Studio Musician
Darren Stroud has recorded everything
from children's family rock albums to the
usual club radio commercials. He has
graced recordings of several Midwest groups and
solo artists stylistically ranging anywhere from
country to experimental Gothic
dance music.
The Frontman
He has also fronted his own progressive original
rock project called "Excursion".
Excursion received rave reviews and was even on
the Top Ten Favorite Band List of Fumage -
Indy's underground zine.
Gigging Musician
Darren has composed and arranged original
material with several musicians and bands.
He gigged regularly in the Midwest with the
popular progressive rhythm and blues band
(featured in GIG Magazine) called Red Beans
and Rice and released three recordings
with this group under YuniVision.
Showcase Guitarslinger
He has opened with various groups for national
to regional artists such as Ted Nugent, Head East,
"Z" (dweezil zappa's band), REO Speedwagon,
Verve Pipe, the Grass Roots, Buckwheat Zydeco,
Kentucky Headhunters, Bad Company, James "Yank"
Rachell, Jimmy Walker, and Delbert McClinton.
And he has also performed at various showcases,
benefits, and major festivals, jamming with
members from such groups as Poison, Lita Ford,
Motley Crue, Jimmy Buffet, John Mellencamp.
Endorsed
Darren plays "Jefferson Street" guitars. His
guitars are especially hand-made for him by Mel
McCullough - luthier for regional and national
artists. The guitar body-shape was designed by
Darren Stroud. He endorses and plays SansampGT2.
Partner
He currently has a rock project called
"Freaking Missy" and Darren and Missy have
relocated to Burbank California to pursue this
project. They are currently being developed
by MAA Management.
Recording Engineer
Darren has recorded all his personal projects, as
well as Missy's Disoriental CD, the
"Live Hot Beans" CD from Red Beans and
Rice, and continued to record all tracks for
any meme recordings. He is now recording
"Freaking Missy" for promotional purposes at their
lockout in Burbank.

GUITARBOY PLAYS THE BLUES
This disc developed out of just trying to check
out drum mikes. With Darren on bass and Missy on
drums, they casually played grooves, but
eventually developed these original blues songs
out of those grooves. Blues Revue states,
"Darren Stroud cuts the monkey loose on
'Guitarboy Plays the Blues'. It's an original
postmodern blues full of upscale chords and note
crammed leads - like Steve Vai suddenly landing
in Oxford, Mississippi, and playing a juke gig."

His mission is to stay focused, to
write great music, to record great
music, and to allow every musical
situation to be a learning experience -
a vehicle for honing his style as a composer
, vocalist and guitar player.
He hopes to have the music heard as a result!
Portions of Stroud's "Guitar Absolute" have
placed well and remained in the Top 10 MP3
Indiana guitar instrumental charts. Stroud is
also beginning to chart on the Hollywood MP3
charts for his music.
MEME was the
outcome of Missy's rock project with
Darren that debuted the CD -
Disoriental. This CD was truly a
"cross-over disc" as the current live sound of
Meme developed into a cool
hard-pop electronica sound described as
"Rocktronica". Darren Stroud and Missy
showcased a thick mix of guitar-driven originals.
Meme garnered several features and title
wins since its inception in Jan 2001. They are
currently in Burbank recording and redefining as
a band called "Freaking Missy".
