a big sloppy live take recorded on my last night with the su700. the drum tracks were built from a variety of sources: some live drums i recorded to my 4-tr and then fed into the "composed loop" pads on the su700 sampler, some found sounds that were chopped and resampled into the first layer of more 'organic' sounds, and some simple 4-16 bar sequences composed on a korg analog percussion synth and the yamaha dx200. the rest of the sounds were produced using various triggered samples and turntables, and the whole racket was recorded live to tape as a kind of electronic improv/dj set. |

the main theme to MIGRATION 2 is extrapolated from a short piece by electronic artist Jarret Lovell. Jarret's piece was recorded on solo dx200 in his home studio, then rerecorded/chopped/sampled/resampled in a "live" DJ set at my studio. various takes of the live DJ set were then further resampled and sequenced into a framework of live/sampled drums, various drum machines, live/sampled bass, DX200, and whatever else was handy at the moment. |
