Joyriders
The Joyriders were
Murdo, Dunsy, Kai and Rick to begin with, then Kai became Craig. Taking their influences from their previous bands The Cateran and
US hardcore act Dr. Know they slogged around the early '90's UK indie circuit
along with the likes of Mega City 4, Senseless things, Swervedriver etc, etc.
Their 2 single releases both became NME singles of the week. BBC Radio Session and various compilation album appearances followed.
The band played with
a whole manner of cool people, as well as the 3 bands mentioned above, the Lemonheads,
Nirvana, All, Mudhoney, Leatherface, Mercury Rev, Bleach, Neds Atomic Dustbin, Doughboys let the
Joyriders share their stage. There were a few assholes along the way who shall
remain nameless.
Managing to snatch
defeat from the jaws of victory, the band broke up in 1993. Well they would
have if the could've been bothered. Instead they just stopped showing up for
rehearsal. Such is life.
