It was September 2001. The Dave Matthews Band filled the largest stadiums, Fuel dominated air-waves, Blink 182 continued their huge pop-punk stint, and Free Kawfee packed the library of a conservative high school in Central-Pennsylvania with nearly 400 of their most dedicated fans? What?! Wait a second, nobody heard about these shows on national airwaves, read about them in billboard, or even considered them a craze. So, why would Free Kawfee even be mentioned in the same sentence as these Top 40 bands? Because of this: The dream of this former high-school band turned "PA music scene rockers" is HUGE, and it's working for them.
During the existence of Free Kawfee, they have played in shacks, holes-in-the wall, dive-bars, nice bars, churches, mosques, skate parks, restaurants, auditoriums, fairs, coffee shops, parks, libraries, basements, ski lodges, clubs, and backyards. In fact, if there were a ballot for electing the most hard-working all-age band, Free Kawfee would be in the running, no doubt.
So, what's behind this drive to play as often as they possibly can? Does anybody really care? Well, maybe not, but the guys in Free Kawfee want people to know that they have faith. Not faith in the Dow-Jones, or faith in Buddha, but Christian faith, which has propelled them into a realm where many bands may not reach. They won't push their faith on you, but Free Kawfee does encourage you to listen beyond the enthusiastic rock, and into the lyrics.
