This orchestral work was my doctoral thesis, which explores the progression of Western harmony as a parallel of the overtone series. In so doing, the piece unfolds in a similar fashion, commencing with the big bang, then the fundamental monophonic voice, then the octave, fifth, and so on. This is not unlike a journey through time, proportionally visiting chordal resources from various musical eras, eventually leading up to the present. |
