Frame(s) is scored for solo percussionist (Amy Knoles), with amplified violin, cello, bass clarinet, flute, piano, and electric bass. The soloist plays a large percussion set up, primarily of drums, metal and wood instruments. A digital mixer is used for spatialization and digital signal processing. The center section of the piece gradually introduces free improvisation, lead by the soloist. Striking particular instruments triggers differing responses from the ensemble. |
