Billy Shaw Headed To Las Vegas

Boulder, Colorado - The man they call the King of the Hayride just can't get enough of the desert. Banjo pickin' Billy Shaw cranks the ol' performing career up a notch with the announcement that Contemporary Mountain and Prairie music is finding a new home in the city of Las Vegas. Known primarily for his banjo accompanied original traditional genre songwriting, Billy's recent successes with music penned since January of this year have inspired his act to relocate to a major market. "It's the place my music wants to be", says the picker. "Woke me up in the middle of the night and just begged me to take it there." Not known as much of an excuse for a gambler, Billy rolls the dice on this one, loaded though they may be, with six booking agencies currently bidding to handle this prairie property.

Trains that took yer true love away, Kiowas and Commanches, women's love as cold as an avalanche, dinner at Granny's house, and sundry fried Americana characterize the deceptively simple themes upon which sophisticated songwriting has garnered The Banjo Man's current reputation.

"I've got one goal in mind in this business. I wanna play seven nights a week and let people know how cool this genre of music can be", says the singer. "My website ( http://www.billyshawsongs.com ) has been getting all kinda hits from Japan, France, Sweden, Germany, and a buncha places I can't even pronounce; folks are going gaga on American traditional music, and my place in the cosmos is to give them stuff they never heard before. It's just what Grandma Spirit wants me to be doing." Ruminating on his previous career in the business, Billy says "People think I'm a bluegrasser (which I was), or a Country singer (which I wasn't - I was a pedal steel player for longer than most singers' careers). I want people to know me for Contemporary Mountain and Prairie, a fun genre with something for just about everybody."

Not coincidentally, his move to Las Vegas does coincide with the release of his latest CD, Contemporary Mountain and Prairie.
