"Tales of Uncommon Time" is an appropriate title due to it's multiple meters: 16/8, 5/4, 7/8 & 4/4. The first order of priority was to find a drummer who was comfortable playing in those times. Mal Stein was the logical choice. Mal made the trek from lower Manhattan one evening to lay down the drum track while Lee played the guitar. True to form, a couple of takes later a solid groove was set. Gregg added some nice guitar and mandolin work and Sudan made the final touches on the G-clarinet.

Five for Chick was the first tune that we recorded, and that we recruited Sudan Baronian for. The experience has lead to many others. The name comes from the meter 5/4 and the fact that it has a sort of Chick Corea like feel. Chick, if your out there, we hope you like it.

Lee composed this song on a kaval, a small wooden flute from Egypt. Gregg added some guitar riffs and a bass line. Sudan added harmony melodies and a kickin' solo. The result is one of the more unique sounding tunes on the CD.
